ŠROMOVÁ, Lucie
The thesis consists of two parts, theoretical and practical. The theoretical part is focused on the definition of the basic concepts of drugs, their history and division and the addiction syndrome. The next chapter is devoted to the family. The following chapters deal with human values and quality of life. The aim of the practical part is to know in detail the life stories of abstinent drug users. To find out the reasons why the respondents started using drugs, what their life was like at the time of use, what was behind the decision to abstain and how they recovered from drug addiction. Narrative analysis is used for the research where the narrative is in the hands of the respondents as unstructured interviews are used to collect data. The interviews are analyzed separately, but also information that is repeated in the interviews is analyzed.

SLAVÍČKOVÁ, T. Tématicko apercepční test u uživatelů drog. Pedagogická fakulta Univerzity Karlovy v Praze, 2012. 140 s.
The Relapse of Alcohol Abuse and Quality of Life After a Ortotopic Liver Transplant
Česneková, Magdalena ; Vacek, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Drastich, Pavel (referee)
Foundations: Alcohol consumption affects negatively the whole organism and the organ that is damaged most often is liver. Liver diseases start developing subsequently. A whole range of diseases, from the lighter forms such as steatosis to a serious, life-shortening illness - the liver cirrhosis, can be caused by alcohol consumption. The degree of alcohol impact on liver depends on its dosage and length of usage. The degree of liver damage does not depend on the kind of the alcoholic drink but rather on its dosage. An important role in development of serious forms of liver diseases is played by other risk factors (mostly genetic) besides volume of consumed alcohol (Schiff et al, 2007). Therapeutic procedures for people with alcoholic liver damages include above all change of lifestyle including abstinence from alcohol consumption, ideally complete abstinence from cigarette smoking, weight reduction if indicated, and nutritional and farmacological therapy. Liver transplant surgery is required in serious cases. The main aim of my thesis is to chart and describe whether the quality of patients' everyday lives improves after liver transplant. In particular, I intend to focus on the physical, mental, and social areas of their lives. Another objective of this paper is to find out whether the patients'...

Conjoint inpatient treatment of pathological gambling and addiction syndrome: needs, experiences and attitudes of patients
Solfronková, Radka ; Vacek, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Mravčík, Viktor (referee)
Pathological gambling brings serious impacts on an individual, his or her surroundings and the society in the areas of economics, intellectual, physical and social health. In the Czech Republic about 40,000 - 80,000 adults are threatened by pathological gambling, however the actual amount of treated adults is only about 2.5 - 5% of the total year estimate. The reason behind this number can be the fact that in the Czech Repulic pathological gambling is treated together with substance addiction in most of the therapy centers. In the beginning of the theoretical part the concept of 'pathological gambling' is defined and the prevalence and the number of treated patients with the diagnosis of pathological gambling is shown along with the availability of electronic gaming devices in the Czech Republic and abroad. Furthermore, etiological context, pathogenesis, and some diagnostic aspects of pathological gambling are described. The theoretical part further compares pathological gambling with substance addiction and the treatments of pathological gambling and introduces the treatments of other addictions in the healthcare system in the Czech Republic. The goal of the empirical part of the thesis is to find out and describe different and similar features of patients with the diagnosis of pathological...
